Checking your thermostat
If your thermostat screen is blank, it’s likely that your batteries need to be replaced. Check the battery cover on the back of the thermostat to see if it’s loose or missing. If it is, replace the batteries and reattach the cover. If your thermostat doesn’t have a battery cover, check the battery compartment and replace the batteries if they’re dead. If your thermostat still doesn’t work after replacing the batteries, you may need to have it serviced.
Check the setting
Summertime is when many people turn on their air conditioners to keep cool. But what if your system isn’t cooling? One thing you should check is that the thermostat is set to the cool setting. If it’s not, turn it to cool and try turning on your air conditioner again. If it still doesn’t work, you may need to call a technician.
Check the set temperature
Make sure the set point for the thermostat is below the home’s temperature, so it is calling for cooling. Also make sure that the unit is not set up to have the fan always on, this will make it easier to tell if your system is working at all or has completely shut down. If it is still not working then you can check on the unit and see if it makes any noise or running at all. If not, then something is wrong with your system and you need to contact a Heating and Cooling Repair Company immediately.
